The Rishie-Howell Wedding

Words by Gladys Lai, Vogue Australia
“Vydia Rishie-Howell and her husband, Samir, were inseparable from the moment they met. From their very first conversation, both realised they had found their other half, or, as Vydia jokes, “the male and female versions of each other."
Bruce Keebaugh and The Big Group began discussing the ceremony from day one. Vydia approached them with a bold vision: a 1920s soirée that Truman Capote might have hosted.
“We went to them with elements that were must haves for us on the day”, says Vydia, “culturally inspired food, ballerinas, white floors—and they ran with it. Bruce has known us for years and truly translated our style and personalities into the most memorable day.”
The wedding planners would soon give the wedding an affectionate nickname: ‘En Pointe’.
“Our theme was a night of contrasting beauty, old world decadence juxtaposed with modern minimalism,” Vydia reminisces. In Melbourne’s Mural Hall, white floors and monochromatic floral installations exuded the opulence of a vintage ballroom. All the while, roaming ballerinas and dulcet music—courtesy of the night’s string quartet—fostered an ambience of unconventional drama.”
